Juvenile Courts

The Juvenile Court has exclusive original jurisdiction over youths, under 18 years of age, who violate any federal, state or municipal law, and any child who is abused or neglected. Juvenile Delinquency cases are heard at the Juvenile Delinquency Court. Juvenile Dependency cases are normally heard at the Terraine Courthouse.

Each of these kinds of juvenile matters are treated in their own subsection of the Self-Service Juvenile website:

Juvenile Delinquency Court 2008 Report to the Presiding Judge

The plight of troubled children and the Juvenile Court has garnered interest in the press this past year. Because of this interest, the Superior Court of Santa Clara County is issuing a year-end report of activities in Juvenile Delinquency Court during the past 12 months, prepared by the Presiding Judge of Juvenile Court, the Honorable Patrick Tondreau.
