Family Court

Family Court now in Sunnyvale:

Two Family Law Departments, the Family Clerk's Office and the Self Help Center, are now open in Sunnyvale. See the Standing Order for locations for filing and submitting documents. Click for directions and map to the Sunnyvale Courthouse.

Judgment Checklists

Judgment checklists are required for uncontested Family Law Judgment packets. Click here to get the  Mandatory Family Law Judgment Checklist or Family Law Parentage Judgment Checklist. These will help you turn in the right forms to get a judgment in your family law case (divorce, parentage, etc.)

Declaration of Residence form

Click here to get the Declaration of Residence Form, adopted for mandatory use effective November 1, 2007. The Declaration of Residence Form should be included with any new family law or confidential paternity actions.

County resources include the  Child Abuse Council,  working to  prevent and heal child abuse.

Use the County Mental Health Professional Services Directory to look up local Family Court related counseling and evaluation services.

The County Department of Child Support Services works with families so that children receive support that meets their financial, medical, and emotional needs.


For help understanding Family Court processes and to learn about Resources that can help you, visit the Court’s Self-Service Family Website. You can get help in person at the Self Service Center in downtown San Jose. Read about the Children's Waiting Room available there - childcare services for families visiting the Notre Dame Courthouse.

If you would like to see information about a particular case or find out about a hearing date, click here to visit our public access Case Info website. However, you will not be able to look up information on confidential cases, including cases involving adoptions, mental health issues and custody petitions for parents who have not married.
